What do I Need in a Home Theater?

Home Theater sound system

Building a home theater is an ambitious project for anyone, there’s a lot to think about and so many products available it can be pretty confusing.  On the plus side there the choice available means you can create a home theater just the way you want it.

When it comes too creating your dream home theater you have two choices:

Obviously a package simplifies the process & minimizes any issues with compatibility.

Creating a system from scratch however means that you can create a system special to you and perhaps more importantly you can integrate existing equipment you might already have such as speakers, a Blu-ray player or a TV.

What do I need in A Home Theater?

Whether you are building your home theater from scratch or looking for a pre-built package, here’s everything you will  need to create the full movie theater experience in the comfort of your own home:

A TV

A high definition TV should be the focal point of any home theater.  The latest televisions offer 4K resolutions which boast 4x the number of pixels than standard full HD.

Whatever you want from a TV there are plenty of options to choose from, and when it comes to building a home theater the best advice is research, research & more research.

A Video Source

There is no point having a high definition TV if you haven’t got any ways to utilize it.  The best way to take advantage of your TV is to connect high resolution Blu-ray players, video games consoles or content streaming devices.

A Blu-ray player offers a super-sharp picture in full 1080p HD video & today’s games consoles act as more of a ‘media hub’ for all of your favorite video & music content.

Speakers

For a true home theater experience you can’t neglect the speakers.  If you are looking for room-filling surround sound you need between five & six quality speakers & a subwoofer.

Home Theater Receiver

Once you have all the speakers you need to create that movie theater experience you need a receiver which acts as the “control center” for your home theater.   The receiver processes audio signals and then amplifies & directs them to the correct speakers for multi-channel surround sound.

Quality cables

To really do your home theater justice you need to use good quality cables, don’t settle for cables that come in the box of your various components.

Power surge protection

When you’re spending a lot of money on quality video & audio equipment you want to be sure to keep them safe from power surges or lightning strikes.

Power protection can give your components an added layer of protection.  Look for a home theater power protector for added picture & audio enhancements.

A universal remote

It’s easy to get lost in a sea of remotes, each assigned to their own devices.  Once of the best investments you can make as a home theater owner is to combine all of your remotes into one.  A universal remote makes controlling all of your devices simple with one remote for all!
